1. Get a Pre-Winter Battery Check

2. Know Your Battery’s Age
Most car batteries last 3–5 years. If yours is pushing that limit, it might struggle in cold weather.

3. Take Longer Drives
Short trips don’t give your battery time to fully recharge. Combine errands or go for the occasional 20-minute run to top things up.
4. Clean the Terminals
Corrosion builds up faster in damp winter conditions. Keep the terminals clean and tight to avoid poor connections.
Mix baking soda with warm water and use an old toothbrush — or let us handle it during a check-up.
5. Don’t Leave Accessories On
Heaters, lights, radios — if they’re running while the engine’s off, you’re draining the battery. Always switch everything off before exiting your car.
6. Secure Your Battery Properly
A loose battery can vibrate while driving, damaging internal components. Check the bracket is snug — not too tight, not too loose.
7. Watch for Dim Lights or Slow Starts

8. Charge It If You’re Not Driving Much
If your vehicle is parked for long periods (especially during school holidays), consider using a smart charger or disconnect the battery.
