How often should I replace a car battery? After about three to five years, sometimes before sometimes after though. But really, the best answer is, when you start to see evidence that your battery charge is deteriorating. Remember, it is never just a question of if but when.

Signs your car battery is beginning to deteriorate

  • Car turns over slower than usual.
  • Can’t leave the radio or lights on very long before you can’t start the car.
  • Terminals are starting to get build up around them.
  • Battery fumes or smells when charging.

If you’ve noticed any of the above signs it might be time you looked at replacing your car battery and thereby save yourself facing a dreaded breakdown.
